Indian premier Narendra Modi visits Russian Federation for annual summit

India and Russian Federation may sign a series of defense contracts when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Moscow this week, Kommersant reported on December 21. Before leaving for Russia, PM Modi said that he is very optimistic on his visit.
A source close to Rosobor on export, Russia’s state-owned arms exporter, said India would produce 140 of the choppers and Russian Federation the remaining 60.
At the summit, Modi and President Putin will review the relationship between India and Russian Federation to strengthen it further and hold discussions on regional and global issues.

He also stated that there would be extensive deliberations with President Putin. Modi will also address a gathering of “Friends of India” and around 3,000 people are expected to attend the event.
“Russia provided defense equipment to India and worldwide support when few were willing to hold our hands”.
On the first day of Modi’s arrival in Russian Federation amid Christmas festivities, Putin will host a private dinner for the Prime Minister tonight.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar had yesterday said that India expects to sign a number of agreements covering a very broad range of fields.
“Russia needs to diversify its trade and trading partners, so it makes sense for Moscow”, Melkulangara Bhadrakumar, former Indian ambassador to Turkey and Uzbekistan, told The Telegraph. “We have outlined an ambitious vision for nuclear energy and construction of at least 12 reactors, which will have the highest safety standards in the world”.
On Indo-Russia ties he said, “The relations between India and Russia are linked together through the water, land and sky”.
