Mr Khandar was one of 282 passengers on board the Boeing 777 when it crash landed at Dubai airport on a journey from Thiruvananthapuram, India, on August 3.
The accident on Thursday shut down the Middle East’s busiest airport for several hours, forcing authorities to cancel hundreds of flights.
Six days later on Tuesday, the Kerala man struck gold when he won a million dollars (Rs 6.7 crore) in a lottery.
The 62-year-old told Gulf News he had bought the ticket while on the way to holiday in Thiruvananthapuram in India’s south.
As if surviving a crash-landing on an airliner wasn’t enough, a Dubai-based Indian man is celebrating a $1 million lottery win just days after that terrifying experience.
“I feel like God gave me a second life when I survived the plane crash, and blessed me with this money to follow all this up by doing good things”, Khadar said.
He told Gulf News: ‘I have been working in Dubai for 37 years, and I have always felt like this is my country. However, despite the cash influx he has no plans to retire any sooner, saying “I will continue to work till I can. Nothing else can give you the satisfaction of your hard-earned money”, he added.

Emirates airlines has already sent a message in this regard to each passenger who travelled in the flight.
He said that his escape from the stricken Emirates plane – which blew up soon after its passengers and crew disembarked – was a miracle.
