Indians lose Kipnis for at least two weeks
After he spent two consecutive days batting DH, manager Terry Francona confirmed on Saturday that Kipnis was experiencing soreness in his right shoulder, but that it was “nothing serious”.
The 2014 Cy Young Award victor will be facing the Angels for the second time in his career.
“We’ll talk to (Cleveland’s head team physician Dr. Mark Schickendantz) and the trainers”, said Francona. After having an MRI on Sunday morning, Kipnis was left out of the lineup for that day’s game. “We’ll put our heads together and see what we want to do about it”.
The Tribe’s move is retroactive to Sunday, so Kipnis could be available for the team’s road series against the Boston Red Sox starting Monday, August 17.
To take Kipnis’ roster spot, the Indians recalled infielder Jose Ramirez from Triple-A Columbus. Kipnis leads the American league in hits with 132 and has eleven stolen bases and scored 66 runs.

The Indians also called up left-hander Kyle Crockett from Columbus and demoted left-hander Michael Roth to Triple-A.
-Chisenhall reached base on three separate occasions out of the leadoff spot. Aviles is just 3-for-39 in his last 12 games, dating back to July 9.
