Indians put 2B Kipnis on DL with shoulder inflammation
A report from Cleveland.com came out Sunday (August 2), where manager Terry Francons states that Kipness has been suffering from right shoulder soreness.
According to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kipnis has been dealing with the injury off and on for most of the year and it bothers him the most when he throws.
Crockett give Francona a lefty in the bullpen, but has not looked good with the Indians or the Clippers so far this year.
The 28-year-old missed Sunday’s game against the Oakland Athletics and returned to Cleveland to undergo an MRI, which determined he required a stint on the DL. We’ll talk to Shick (head team physician Dr. Mark Schickendantz) and the trainers. Francona spoke at length about what the team is deciding to do with Kipnis. Jose Ramirez has taken his spot on the roster and should see some time at second base along with Mike Aviles while Kipnis is sidelined. For the season he is batting.326/.401/.477, and leads the American Leahue with 132 hits and 31 doubles.
Kipnis started the season slowly, then became one of the best players in baseball during May and June. 326 with six home runs and 39 RBIs in 101 games.
The Indians also called up left-hander Kyle Crockett from Columbus and demoted left-hander Michael Roth to Triple-A.
