Indo-Canadian charged for assaulting woman flight attendant
Peel police are arresting a man after his actions on board an Air Canada flight forced the plane to turn around.
Just as the Air Canada flight AC6006 was above the Atlantic Ocean, he allegedly assaulted a woman flight attendant, and then, according to some reports, bit her finger.
Nobody was injured, police said, and the suspect was taken into custody around 5:20 a.m. Police say charges against the man are pending.
JASKARAN Sidhu, 47, of Alberta was arrested Wednesday when he caused a flight bound for New Delhi to return to Pearson International Airport when he assaulted a flight attendant. The victim sustained injuries that required medical attention.
This is the moment a passenger was arrested on board a flight, which had to be diverted after he allegedly bit an air hostess.
Police say the man was belligerent at the time, but he was arrested without incident when the plane landed in Toronto.
Poor weather had prompted Air Canada to postpone the flight earlier on Tuesday, shortly after it made it to the runway.
A new flight is was scheduled to leave Pearson International Airport at noon.
