SAN FRANCISCO-20 people have been injured after an open-air double-decker tourbus crash took place at a crowded intersection in San Francisco’s Union Square area on Friday, November 13.
The bus with open-top seating was travelling at high speeds through the streets Friday afternoon before smashing into metal scaffolding at a building construction site in the heart of the square, police said. The scaffolding was in front of an upcoming Apple store.
The tourbus allegedly hit a bicyclist on the road before colliding into pedestrians, and several other nearby vehicles.
Fire officials say power lines are down in the area.
Authorities said crews had to extricate two people on the bus, including the driver, two pedestrians trapped underneath the bus and two people in vehicles involved in the collision.
