Injuries mounting up for Manchester United after win at Watford
Jesse Lingard believes Manchester United’s “massive” win over Watford on Saturday has sent a message to their Premier League title rivals.
Louis van Gaal’s side dominated the first half at Vicarage Road and took the lead through Memphis Depay, but the Hornets improved after the break and arguably deserved a share of the spoils.
United’s attacking play noticeably wilted after he was forced off and it remains a mystery as to why Van Gaal does not appear to trust him.
Memphis has largely operated on the left since joining United but in this game he played in a more unfamiliar position up front – a position where he laboured unconvincingly for much of the Netherlands’ crucial home loss to Iceland in September. I know some people think our positional game is boring but I think it is a way to disorganise the opponent’s organisation.
The maturity of Lingard’s performances are what has impressed me so much since he earned himself a place in the starting XI.
Watford dominated the second half, with United goalkeeper David de Gea making three crucial saves to deny Deeney twice, and then a Abdi effort that took a wicked defelction off Chris Smalling.
Manchester United’s game against PSV Eindhoven is a very important one.
“I think, the whole season, we have had a good spirit”. It was an injection, the equaliser.
“I was convinced Shaw would have a very good season”, the Dutch coach began, as per the Mirror.
Manchester United captured three points against Watford despite missing key players through injury and conceding late in the match.
The Sunday Mirror states that Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez is the latest player to be scouted, with United keen to replace the injured Luke Shaw.
“You can have a lot of difficulties to keep all the players with confidence, but it’s true it wasn’t our team in the first half”.
Michael Carrick, who suffered an ankle injury playing for England against Spain recently, was not present either.
Van Gaal informed MUTV and reporters at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that the left-back has been given four days off from his recovery programme this week. And secondly, I thought why he is fed up, maybe it is because of the PSV match and every player has to watch the game from the stadium to support their colleagues. He is at home.
Deeney was then unable to direct his shot away from De Gea after Ighalo had a made a nuisance in the area, with Quique Sanchez Flores’s side taking a more direct approach.
