Inmate who killed 2 was facing major charges

Fred Upton, a MI state Republican and House Representative, gave a statement in which he called the gunman’s actions “horrific” adding that he hopes the death of the law enforcement officials involved will finally make people see that these public servants take a risk with their lives every single day, in order to serve and protect the public, never knowing what might come their way or if they will return home to their families when the night comes.

The courthouse is in St. Joseph, which is 100 miles northeast of Chicago. A female civilian was also shot in the arm before Gordon was killed by an officer, report WOOD and WZZM.

She spoke to him on 10 July, the day before the attack, and said she had no idea of his plans.
