‘Inside Out’ celebrates edge over ‘Magic Mike,’ ‘Terminator’
Can we stay on this video a little bit longer. Thank you for doing that to me, Paula.
Of course, the film has a deeper storyline that goes beyond a group of chiselled Adonises taking their clothes off, but in reality, that’s all the audience wants to see. Grab your popcorn. Let the blockbuster battle begin. If you haven’t seen the clip, its creators from Screen Junkies basically spell out what the movie is really about: toys who come alive and face the existential dread of growing old and being replaced by someone newer and better.
Rounding out the top five was Ted 2, another R-rated comedy sequel that has underwhelmed since debuting last weekend. “Magic Mike” eventually grossed $113.7 million domestically. “I think Sofia and I are similar in our beliefs and core values, which makes [our relationship] work”. US TODAY’s Brian Truitt awarded it *½ stars out of four, calling it “a movie (that’s) just as ridiculous as the spelling of its subtitle”. Can you stop it? “I like the controlled going back in time”. Reporter: Both films have huge fan bases to draw from. If you could sum it up with a hash # what would it say.
Tatum’s character is as sweet and dreamy as ever and seems somehow even more gorgeous – his dance moves are enough to leave any girl a quivering mess. Reporter: The sequel hoping to continue the hype. The first Magic Mike fell 41% its first Friday-to-Saturday. With reviews as glowing as Amy Poehler’s animated Joy, Inside Out has drawn $246.2 million since its release June 19, becoming the seventh-highest-grossing Pixar movie to date, according to Box Office Mojo (2010’s Toy Story 3 is still the biggest, with $415 million). Yet despite all these glorious stats, it appears Magic Mike XXL is front-loaded, which is a typical B.O. trend for chick pics where they all show up on opening day, and then slip away day by day.
I’m pretty sure the only people that thought TERMINATOR: GENISYS would do well are the executives at Paramount. Reporter: And “Terminator genisys” – cashing in on its cultlike following that’s been building for over 30 years. And although it’s a much smaller film, I wouldn’t write off THE GALLOWS either.
He said: “I was super fat when I started”. Many will disagree, given that the 2012 Magic Mike was a critical darling (largely due to the presence of the revered Steven Soderbergh as director) and commercial hit (largely – exclusively? – due to the presence of all those rippling bods).
