Inside the house where Oscar Pistorius killed his girlfriend
The new tenants of the house where South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp have been filmed giving a tour of the property, the media reported on Monday.
Oscar Pistorius gestures as he leaves court in Pretoria, South Africa.
Ms Steenkamp, a model and reality TV star, died when Pistorius fired four shots though the bathroom door at his home on St Valentine’s Day in 2013.
Pistorius, who was given a five-year jail sentence, was due for release in August but his parole has been repeatedly delayed in a long legal battle. “Hot girls can invite themselves”, he adds with a chuckle.
The new tenants, David Scott, 33, and Kagiso Mokoape, 23, were recorded on South African television channel Netwerk24 calling the home an “entertainer’s house” that “Oscar built … to entertain”.
Later the pair head for the bathroom where the killing took place, and continue to joke about the plausibility of Pistorius’ defense.
Holding beer, Mr Scott said “Hot girls can invite themselves”, while Mr Mokoape said: “Every weekend it is going to go down here”.
Last year, Pistorius was convicted of manslaughter and cleared of murder, though an appeal against his acquittal will be heard next month.
They will be renting the house from owner and mining consultant Louwtjie Louwrens, who bought the house for 4.5 million rand (£220,000). Mokoape says “no way, not a chance”, that it could have been burglars.
While in the bathroom, Mr Mokoape says: “I feel bad for Reeva’s parents”.
“I can tell you now they had a fight…Oscar’s girlfriend did what a typical woman would do to any man, tried to double (cross) him and with a syndrome that he has in any case with his legs being amputated, he would have flipped easily”, Scott said.
The News24 website, which picked up the video, later stated that Scott had apologised for the video, and said that it had given a totally wrong message.
