Instagram Is Still Really Big, Now Has 400 Million Users
Today, Facebook-owned photograph-centric social network Instagram announced that it has hit 400 million users. It also took the company nine months to jump from 200 million to 300 million users, so it’s growth has been pretty consistent over the past two years. On average, Instagram saw 70 million new images uploaded each day last December. The countries that added the most new users included Brazil, Japan and Indonesia, Instagram said.
According to some of the numbers shared by Instagram, they revealed that 75% of their community is based outside the United States , meaning that a quarter of Instagrammers are from the USA alone!
The number shows that the appeal of Instagram continues to grow despite the platform’s ramping up of its advertising program, the addition of video and end of its square-only format, though the format change was introduced only last month.
The new system could help Instagram generate considerably more revenue. That stands in sharp contrast to Twitter, which continues to struggle with user growth. Instagram now has more monthly active users than Twitter (316 million), but still far less than its parent company, Facebook (over 1 billion).
