Instead of releasing an iPhone 6c, Apple will upgrade the iPhone 5se
It is believed the Cupertino-based tech giant will launch the 4-inch iPhone 5e (which according to rumours will be dubbed the iPhone 6c) sometime in June this year; breaking away from the usual tradition of unveiling iPhones at its annual fall event.
The new 4-inch iPhone 5SE variant will boast most of the features of the iPhone 6 model, including the curved glass screen; the A8 processor; and the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Chinese Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in December that a 4-inch iPhone’s possibility can’t be ruled out without having Apple Pay. On the software side of things, the phone will get support for larger panoramas, autofocus for videos, Live Photos (from iPhone 6S), and the usual silver, space gray, silver, and rose gold colours.
Its 4-inch screen will be the same size as the iPhone 5S’s.
Gurman adds that Apple’s goal is to create an “enhanced version of the iPhone 5s”, and suggests it will look different than that device.
Apple plans to announce new Apple Watch models in March. According to 9to5Mac report, Apple is not targeting mainstream or budget shooters with the iPhone 5SE. The event is alleged to be the event where the company will be launching its new smaller iPhone, the iPhone 5c, and the Apple iPad Air 3 which will replace the aged Apple iPad Air 2 which it launched back in 2014.
PC Mag says once the iPhone 7 is released and the iPhone 5 is discontinued, this will leave Apple with three models: the 5SE, 6S and the iPhone 7. His sources with the company claim the smaller phone, which will have a 4in display like the iPhone 5s (shown), will instead be called the iPhone 5se.
The iPhone 5se is rumored to be set for a debut in March, but that’s not the only announcement that Apple might have planned for the month.
The second report today is a gloomy one from Reuters that states that “Some of Apple Inc’s main Asian suppliers expect revenues and orders to drop this quarter, indicating iPhone sales are nearly certain to post their first annual decline since the flagship product was launched nearly a decade ago.” .
