International Space Station astronaut: Hello, Is this Planet Earth?… Sorry
Little did the woman who answered the phone know, the question was literal and “not a prank call…just a wrong number”, Peake wrote.
British astronaut Tim Peake apologized on Christmas Eve after dialing a wrong number from aboard the International Space Station.
Peake arrived at his new home on the International Space Station in early December – he’ll have about five more months to figure out the right number.
“I’d like to apologise to the lady I just called by mistake saying “Hello, is this planet Earth?’ – not a prank call…”
Astronauts on the Space Station are able to call their families on Earth through video and voice calls when they have free time.
Peake, a 43-year-old former army helicopter pilot, left Earth for ISS last week for the beginning of a 171-day mission.
Peake has also used Twitter to send Christmas greetings. Helen Sharman became the first British citizen to travel to space when she visited the Soviet Mir orbiting station in 1991.
