Iowa poll: Sanders, Trump hold solid leads
For the first time this cycle, Sanders talked the most during the debate.
A new CNN/ORC poll released Thursday found Sanders leading Clinton among Iowa caucus-goers on economic issues, but showed Clinton had a strong advantage in the area of foreign policy.
Sanders told the crowd those numbers should put to rest any suggestion that he’s too nice or not electable enough to beat Republicans in November.
Sanders’ 8-percentage point lead over the former secretary state is outside of the poll’s 6-percentage-point margin-of-error.
Though many party insiders have long expected that Sanders could win New Hampshire, the first-primary state, the close race in Iowa has the Clinton campaign scrambling with a little more than a week to go before the caucuses. Sanders has a packed schedule over two days in the Granite State, including stops today in Hooksett, Nashua and Wolfeboro.
By putting Sullivan in front of the camera-and on a conference call with reporters Thursday afternoon to discuss the video-the campaign frees Clinton from mounting this attack herself and coming across as excessively critical of her popular opponent.

Hillary Clinton is joined by Demi Lovato at a campaign event in Iowa City, Iowa, on January 21, 2016. “We’re on a home-field disadvantage here”, Clinton said.
“Her campaign wanted to have a special place for families”, said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. In the latest poll, Sanders led Clinton there 51% to 43%.
“I would hope very much that Secretary Clinton would join me in making certain that seniors in this country do not have to live on $12,000, $13,000 a year”, he said. “In contrast, Clinton says Sanders’ approach would create gridlock since he wants, “…to start over from scratch with a whole new system”. A new poll by KBUR shows Clinton with a 9-point lead over Sanders, 48 percent to 39 percent, with Martin O’Malley taking 7 percent.
Clinton, who is in the midst of a campaign swing through Iowa, stressed that this was a tough race and said she knows how to get “knocked down” and get back up. I understand that. It is a competitive process.
