Iowa State Fair Opens, Here Come The Candidates
One of their top fairgrounds destinations is the Des Moines Register’s Soapbox, a modern take on the old-fashioned political activity of “getting up on the soapbox”.
And Iowa is especially important for Clinton as she campaigns to win the home of the first presidential caucuses. Five months after reports that she’d used the private email, Clinton’s campaign this week turned over her server to the Justice Department. State and federal candidates have spoken there, including 2008 and 2012 GOP precinct caucus winners former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Pennsylvania Sen. There are SO many candidates. Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio, John Kaisch, Chris Christie and Bobby Jindal will appear in the course of the week.
As she prepares to visit the ultimate site for campaign photo-ops, Mrs. Clinton earned the endorsement a key Iowa Democrat, Tom Harkin. It’s exactly what it sounds like; a life-size statue of a cow made from butter. The bus alone – with the “Make America Great Again” slogan extending across its sides – created an irresistible oasis of celebrity politics amid a desert of minivans and shopping carts. And he says if people want to change it, they should vote for him.

As with all fairs, there’s lots of good food and fun.
The annual Iowa State Fair has come to town, kicking off an 11-day run with a parade Wednesday evening at the State Capitol in downtown Des Moines with Gov. Terry Branstad.

It is rumored that Donald Trump will show up to the fair in his helicopter.
