IPad Air 3: Where Art Thou?
As it turns out, there will be no Apple iPad Air 2 successor, or iPad Air 3, planned for this year.
BGR reported on Wednesday that the company is already preparing for the release of their biggest tablet as a flagship project for the year 2015, proof that Apple is now gearing up for a “bigger” market with a jumbo-sized tablet. It will also have a screen that measures 12.9-inch by 12.9-inch diagonally, a size significantly larger than iPad Air’s. Apple released six iPads earlier and this makes iPad Air 3 the seventh device in this line-up. Along with the rumors, also came the news that Apple is a bit cautious in placing large orders as the tablet line has declined in popularity in the last few years.
The tablet line-up should be refreshed this year on October-November.
Liaoxian Li, aninvestment advisor at Fubon Hardware, told the publication that Apple wants to focus its attention on the new iPad Pro, which is expected to become an important enterprise and education-related product.
Furthermore, the iPad Air 3 is also expected to have improved camera features, as with all other releases from Apple and like with most constantly improving camera capabilities in tablets and smartphones. He said the American tech firm would like to focus on their latest iPad Pro product.
As for the pricing concerns, Apple will most likely put a discount in the iPad Air 2 from $100 to be able to make a way for the iPad Air 3. But readers should note that Apple has not confirmed the iPad Pro specifications thus far.
However, these reports are unconfirmed by Apple, which means that they should be taken with a grain of salt. On a general point of view, the iPad Air 2 is still having a similar overall design as the iPad Air; however the processor boost offers 2.5x quicker GPU performance and 40% faster CPU performance over the iPad Air’s A7 chip.
Right now, there hasn’t been a single shred of official information regarding the iPad Air 3 which most users are expecting this fall. In the meantime, the Wall Street Journal reports the iPad Pro will house a stylus in addition to the optional keyboard and mouse.
