IPhone 6 with a hydrogen battery lasts for up to a week
UK Tech Company has brought a sufficient solution to battery drainage problem for iPhone users as it has developed a hydrogen fuel cell for your device that is so compact they have managed to fit it inside just a slightly modified regular iPhone 6.
Henri Winand, the chief executive of Intelligent Energy thinks this is probably the first instance that a company has designed a hydrogen fuel cell which can charge a phone battery. There are no visible differences between an off-the-shelf iPhone and a fuel cell-equipped one save for a row of rear vents that let the waste water vapour escape.
The prototype version is using hydrogen gas which the company refuels by using a modified headphone port. This cartridge would give you seven days of battery life for around the same price as a simple cup of coffee, or at least that’s the hope of the company. The battery is made by Intelligent Energy, a British company specialising in new forms of power technology.
So this could be on board for the iPhone 7S, in theory.
The cell is the same size as the iPhone, but is so thin that it can fit into the existing chassis of the phone without any need for major alterations. The cartridge is actually disposable which means that after it is used for up to one week, it will have to be ejected and then replaced with a new cartridge.
Even more intriguingly, The Telegraph believes that the company is “working closely with Apple” on the project, so future iPhones could have long-lasting batteries that put current models to shame.
Speaking of the alleged partnership with Apple, Mark Lawson-Statham, corporate finance chief at the firm, told The Telegraph: “Our view is that this is a couple of years out but really it’s about how quickly does our partner want to press the button and get on with it?”
