IPhone 6s and 6s Plus to See Production Cuts “Amid Lackluster Sales”
This isn’t confirmed knowledge just yet, only a report of the expectation that Apple will soon cut back on outputs.
As a response to the possible cut in phones, the Chinese government has given Foxconn – Apple’s main iPhone supplier – $12 million in subsidies to prevent it from having to sack staff in numbers.
Apple could decide to scale things up even further when it comes to their internal storage options for the iPhone 7 Plus by also offering 32 GB and 128 GB variants, though this remains unconfirmed. Fast Company states that Apple has considered supporting wireless charging on two previous iPhones, and its plans could still change.
Toward the end of a year ago, many analysts began predicting that sales of Apple’s best-selling product would slump in 2016, based on supply chain issues and weaker demand especially from saturated, developed markets.
The latest rumor, from Chinese media outlet MyDrivers (via 9to5Mac), suggests that this year’s iPhone 7 Plus will pack a bigger battery and a significant bump in storage.
Sales of Apple iPhones may be slowing, leading to excess capacity and some lay-offs at its key component suppliers, according to reports, which also hit the shares of suppliers including chipmaker ARM Holdings. The latest major phone to come out from Apple would be that of the iPhone 7 which would be releasing in the September of this year.
Customers looking to pick up one of Apple’s anticipated “iPhone 7 Plus” handsets later this year will, according to a recent report, have a couple of additional benefits over owners of the smaller “iPhone 7” device.
Generation is likely to return to normalcy in the April-June quarter, the Nikkei reported.
Sharp dropped 4.1% as of 10:21am in Tokyo and Japan Display Inc. slumped 3.2%. “Apple continues to be gaining substantial market share in pretty much every area, and I am not finding a worldwide slow down”, he said.
