IPhone 6s and iPad Pro: every hands-on video you need

Cook and his top lieutenants on Wednesday also showed off a new iPad Pro with a 13-inch screen, attachable keyboard and a stylus, which the company hopes will help turn around a two-year slump in iPad sales.

Other fun details: Apple TV apps will be able to work with the Apple Watch, multiplayer games can be played with anyone on an iOS device, and it works with third party MFi controllers, including a Garage Band guitar.

As someone who has watched Apple for years, it seemed like an bad lot of products for one show.

In a repeat of last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unveiling, the specs for Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus reveal that optical image stabilization for still photography and video recording is still only available on the larger of the two smartphones.

The new iPhones will have more memory and faster processors, along with a new 12 mega-pixel camera.

Surface Pro 4, a successor of the hugely popular Surface Pro 3, will reportedly feature variants carrying 12-inch and 14-inch displays as well as brand new Inter processors when it will launch next month.

Apple has introduced a new colour for the the latest device however. The iPhone 6’s 8-megapixel camera shoots video only up to 1080p. The Outlook app will be updated to explicitly support Split View on iPad Pro 2 and iPad Air 2 for opening Office document attachments. “You have to get them and put them away”. I used 3D Touch to quickly post a status update – “Hi” – on a test Facebook account. The screen doesn’t actually press down or click, but a vibrating haptic engine gives you a little jiggle so you know it worked.

It will register varying levels of pressure, and respond differently depending on how hard you press it. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine.

With a feature called Live Photos, the iPhone camera records an extra second or so before you take still shots so that images appear in motion.

“No matter what you like to do with your phone, 3D Touch makes it better than ever”, boasted Apple Senior Vice President Craig Federighi.

Those expecting revolutionary changes will be disappointed, but the new iPhones have enough new features to consider buying over an older model. The new phones aren’t coming out until September 25 anyway, although advance orders begin Saturday.

The iPad Pro will be available in November starting at $799 in the United States for a 32GB model, rising to $949 for a 128GB version. From fitness and health monitoring on the wrist, to communications and productivity via phones, computers and tablets, to entertainment in the living room, Apple has been steadily expanding its offerings as Cook chases new markets. Apple Pencil will be sold for $99 more and the keyboard for $169.

The iPad Pro will also come with a stylus – called the Apple Pencil. When you choose a black pencil, it comes out gray, like a real pencil.

Apple’s popularity will make more consumers aware of the latest streaming technology, while encouraging developers to build more games and apps for TV screens, said Matt Wuebbling, general manager for Nvidia’s Shield system.

The new remote shows a lot of promise, with a touchpad much like what’s found on laptops. And when you encounter dialogue that’s mumbled, just say, “What did she say?”
