IPhone 6s release stalled by Pope’s visit in some Northeast cities
However Apple has warned that many of its followers in New York City and Philadelphia might not receive their phones thanks to the antics of Pope Francis prepares to visit both of those cities next week.
UPS announced on its website that massive security measures taken to keep the pontiff safe will cause delivery delays this week in New York as well as Washington and Philadelphia. The new iPhone will be released on September 25th – the very day that UPS has issued an advisory for. Pope Francis will be making appearances in those areas at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, United Nations headquarters, 9/11 Museum, Central Park, Madison Square Garden and elsewhere next Thursday and Friday.
That only affects Manhattan, but covers a good portion of the city including popular neighborhoods like Midtown, Tribeca, the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Chelsea and East Harlem. The latest iPhone has already received vast coverage prior to its launch, and fans are eager to try the phone’s new Force-touch technology along with its 4k video recording, 12 MP camera and A9 processor. However, if you live in New York this year that may change.
There’s a chance that Apple may be shipping via FedEx in the area.
Brand new color schemes for the 6s have been launched, which include a new “Rose Gold” iPhone.
In any case, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus pre-orders won’t be on the list of “most important packages”, if there is such a list. Despite the shipment delay, Apple might still be enable to deliver its products before September ends.
