Iran bans U.S. consumer goods

In fact, new legislation that has been touted as granting additional rights to those accused in Iran, such as the right to representation by counsel, specifically does not apply to national security related crimes. Symbolically, as well, the Iranian regime is sending mixed messages. The protest came despite the deal that will see Tehran limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Most of Iran’s lawmakers voted Monday to keep the slogan “Death to America” despite the nuclear accord. “But… the policies of the United States have been against the national interests of Iranian people (so) it’s understandable that people will demonstrate sensitivity to this issue”, Rouhani said, as quoted by Yahoo News. It named the man as Nizar Zakka, an IT expert who Lebanese media reported last week had disappeared on September 18 after attending a conference in Tehran.

“Why down with U.S.?” But the detention could be interpreted as another warning shot by hard-liners seeking to undermine his bids at outreach.
