Iran rejects accusations about military site as lies
“Parchin is an important site; what is unnatural is that they link normal activities in Parchin to military garrisons; no doubt that the Zionist regime is chagrined in the prospect of a solved Iranian nuclear issue, and they would spend huge sums to turn the tide”, Larijani told the commission; “we should be aware that the post-deal era is a new untrodden path with new challenges; we should understand well the JCPOA document, and act out of honesty and good faith in explaining its provisions”, he demanded.
Intelligence officials and lawmakers who have seen the new evidence, which is still classified, told us that satellite imagery picked up by U.S. government assets in mid- and late July showed that Iran had moved bulldozers and other heavy machinery to the Parchin site and that the U.S. intelligence community concluded with high confidence that the Iranian government was working to clean up the site ahead of planned inspections by the IAEA.
It said it would make little sense for Iran to “park vehicles three kilometers south of the dam”.
“The major question now is whether after deal enrichment is a possibility; this is for the first time that world powers have accepted that Iran would have its enrichment technology, with limited enrichment level, though; this has its own complexities, and raises the concern whether, with our current scope of technology, this would aim to mount pressure on us in want of more restrictions”, he asked rhetorically.
“You have to worry that this could be an attempt by Iran to defeat the sampling, that it’s Iran’s last-ditch effort to eradicate evidence there”, he said.
In a statement, Iran’s UN mission said opponents are carrying out a “vicious” campaign “to poison the positive environment at the global level” and derail the agreement. “And their actions seem to be against the grain of the agreement“.
Burr said Iran’s activities at Parchin complicate the work of the IAEA inspectors who are set to examine the site in the coming months.
“They (opponents of the deal) have unfold these lies earlier than”.
The speaker of Iran’s parliament additionally dismissed the think-tank’s options.
Ali Vaez, senior Iran analyst at the worldwide Crisis Group, said that the new satellite images “reveal nothing new” about Parchin. “Iran’s explanation appears to be that the vehicles at the suspect site were there inadvertently, but this explanation strains believability”.
“Let’s be very clear that we’re able to detect, as I said, and monitor this kind of activity, if it were happening”, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said.
On Wednesday, US President Barack Obama delivered a speech urging members of Congress to support the deal, warning that a rejection of the deal could lead to war.
Under the nuclear deal, most sanctions on Iran will be lifted once the IAEA verifies Iranian compliance with the terms of the agreement, including strict limits on Iranian nuclear activities and answering questions about its past atomic work.
It includes clauses that state Iran must allow in weapons inspectors, although the some of the details of that agreement have remained secret.
