Iran says UN atomic agency chief to visit Tehran again
The Islamic Republic of Iran made it clear on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump will not “tear up” Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with the radical country, and also warned Tehran will react to any extension of American sanctions.
“He wants to do many things”, Iran’s president, Hassan Rouhani, said of Trump in a speech. Do you suppose we will allow this?
Salehi says that Iran and the IAEA have had “very positive” cooperation that will be further “boosted”. “Today, we took action to reauthorize key sanctions, giving President-elect Trump a full menu of options to implement against Iran for any future transgressions”.
The JCPOA is an worldwide document endorsed by the Security Council of the United Nations and Iran believes that the proper implementation of the nuclear deal would be a considerable achievement for the global community and the participants of the deal.
“We have to resist, be steadfast and find a way to counter it”, Rouhani said, according to IRNA.
President Obama has already faced calls from the Republican leadership asking his administration to halt efforts to facilitate companies doing business with Iran throughout the transition months.
The shipment is a step towards resolving a dispute with Western powers including the United States that are keen to prevent Iran from testing the deal’s terms.
Rouhani – who never mentioned Trump by name but referred to him as “some man…elected in the U.S.” – suspected Trump may desire to weaken or destroy JCPOA. “We have to stop Iran’s march to the bomb, development of long-range ballistic missiles and support for terrorism around the world”.
Trump repeatedly bashed the nuclear deal during the presidential campaign, calling it “catastrophic” and promising to renegotiate.
Rouhani said he will join the gathering of an experts committee on Wednesday to determine Iran’s response to what he labeled the USA violation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the deal is “the common and joint responsibility of all the parties involved, and it should not be affected by any change in the domestic situations of the countries concerned”. But US sanctions remain and will expire on December 31 if Obama doesn’t sign the extension into law.
Meanwhile, Larijani maintained that the procedure to face any violation by any side of the agreement has been devised in the JCPOA and Iran would sent its protest to the expert panel of the agreement. You read [that] it is the United States that stops us being developed, having a good life.
Last week the Senate voted 99-0 to pass a bill extending the Iran Sanctions Act by another ten years.
