Iran unveils new longer-range solid fuel missile
Iran has unveiled a new home-made ballistic missile with high accuracy during a ceremony attended by the Islamic Republic President Hassan Rouhani.
Iran unveils a new solid-fuel precision-guided missile, named Fateh 313, which has been designed and manufactured by experts at the Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Industries Organization.
According to that deal, any transfer to Iran of ballistic missile technology during the next eight years will be subject to the approval of the United Nations Security Council, and the United States has promised to veto any such requests. Iran has repeatedly said its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
“A weak country incapable of confronting and defending against the military power of its neighbours and enemies can not claim to seek peace, as it should only be prepared to be occupied at any moment”, the president said in a televised speech at the event.
Earlier this year, Hajizadeh touted plans to upgrade and replace Iran’s existing Fateh, Qiyam, and Qadr missiles with a new generation of missiles, despite worldwide sanctions on the Iranian missile program.
Iran says it has ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), which are capable of striking both Israel and Saudi Arabia.
“In our aerospace industry we have various ballistic missiles with different ranges under production”, Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said on Friday.
A senior commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said Iran is set to hold a massive ballistic missile test in the near future.
“Some wrongly think Iran has suspended its ballistic missile programs in the last two years and has made a deal on its missile program…”
