Iraqi forces cut last IS supply line into Ramadi by retaking bridge
Iraqi forces have managed to cut off Daesh’s last supply line into Ramadi by recapturing a strategic bridge as they continue their operations to fully liberate the embattled western city.
“The bridge is now entirely under our control”, said Sabah al-Numani, spokesman for the Iraqi Counter terrorism forces. They’ve ringed the city with homemade bombs, creating minefields in that Iraqi forces have been reluctant to cross.
“We are tightening our grip on them (Islamic State)”.
The United States and its allies staged 18 air strikes against Islamic State in Iraq on Thursday, according to the U.S.-led coalition leading the military operations.
“This advance is very important”, said the colonel on condition of anonymity.
Warren noted that Iraqi troops have recently outnumbered the Islamic State in Ramadi by “as many as 10 to one”, and that the offensive to reclaim Ramadi consists of between 8,000 to 10,000 Iraqi security forces. The coalition also struck targets in nine other Iraqi cities including Sinjar, Mosul and Tikrit.
