Irish boxer fights off gang of angry Turks
The shopkeeper took offence and hit him with a stick after the situation escalated, reports Today’s Zaman.
The footage spread throughout Turkish social media on Tuesday, becoming a trend topic nearly immediately after someone posted the video under the title “Irish tourist singlehandedly beats up Aksaray shopkeepers”, with scores of social media users praising the tourist and mocking the shopkeepers.
But unfortunately for them, their victim happened to be a PROFESSIONAL BOXER.
As can be seen in the video, the fight appears to have started when the man went to take a bottle of water from a fridge in a shop and opened the door causing several bottles of water to spill out. Seconds after the incident, owner of the shop approached the Irish tourist and hit him with a stick. That is, until he positioned himself and started to fight back. After taking a punch to the face, one assailant could barely walk.
The fight spilled out into the streets as other shopkeepers rushed in to help.
The tourist is said to then have returned to his hotel.
Eventually the shopkeepers got the message – and may think again before attacking a tourist.
The mysterious pugilist has been named as Kuwaiti-born Irish citizen Mohammed Fadel Dobbous by the Hurryiet Daily News.
