Irish victims of Tunisia beach attack arrive home
Larry and Martina Hayes are sadly missed by their heartbroken daughter Sinead, Lonnie’s brothers Seamus and Michael, sisters Ann and Della, and Martina’s brothers John Joe, Tommy and Billy and her sisters Evelyn, Ita, Della, Patricia, Pauline, Maureen and Veronica, his uncles Andy and Steve, their brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, colleagues, neighbours, relatives and many friends.
Government minister, Kamel Jendoubi said the eight in custody are seven men and one woman.
“In terms of dealing with the authorities there we expect that over the next 24 hours the bodies of the deceased will be returned to Dublin and thereafter the funeral arrangements will take place at the behest of the families”.
Her funeral mass will be at 12pm on Saturday, with burial afterwards in Retaine Cemetery.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack, in which Tunisian student Seifeddine Rezgui opened fire on a beach in the resort of Sousse.
He also urged greater global terrorism cooperation in a “war… between democratic Tunisia and an global jihadi movement”.
The Tunisian government says eight people are in custody in Tunisia, suspected of having direct links to the deadly beach attack.
The remains of three Irish nationals shot dead while holidaying in Tunisia last Friday are understood to have arrived home to Ireland.
Sunway Holidays has suspended its weekly flight schedule to Monastir from tomorrow.
The company said weekly flights to Monastir have been suspended until the situation in Tunisia has been “clarified”.
“Our return flight on Friday, July 3rd, from Monastir to Dublin will go ahead as scheduled”.
“Sunway and Just Sunshine shared the aircraft”.
“The companies want to see how the security situation develops, but it’s also a commercial decision”, Mr Skelly said.
They were among three Irish people who lost their lives in the terrorist attack.
“It’s hard to imagine the companies will reinstate the flights this summer”.
The couple were on holiday in Sousse when they were shot by the gunman.
