“Iron Boy” saves the city of Sydney
“Domenic has been recruited to become #Iron Boy AU, a version of his favourite superhero, as part of a joint project between Make-A-Wish Australia and the NSW Police Force”.
Domenic was told that some evil henchmen had kidnapped Make-A-Wish’s fictional news reporter Hope Joy, who was being held at a secret hideout.
The youngster was picked up by police helicopter while playing in a local park in Bringelly and taken to police headquarters for a briefing by the Commissioner.
It seemed like the whole city of Sydney stopped what they were doing to give Iron Boy, aka Domenic Pace, the greatest day ever.
Dressed in a red Iron Man suit before jumping into a convoy on a mission to save a damsel in distress, nine-year-old Domenic has had his dream of becoming a superhero come to life.
Donning his armour, Domenic was whisked away on a police speed boat to Clark Island to rescue Joy before being summoned to take on Ultron.
A seriously ill Australian boy was Thursday granted his wish to become a superhero like Iron Man, with police staging an elaborate event on the Sydney Opera House steps as Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr tweeted his support.
Commissioner Scipione commended Domenic’s courage during a special medal presentation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has made a little boys dream come true by allowing him to be Iron Boy for a day.
“I hear you’ve had quite the day”, says Downey Jr.
He received encouragement for his “top secret mission” from Downey Jr via Twitter, and went on to vanquish evil henchmen, save Joy and defeat his enemy Ultron outside the Sydney Opera House.
It is hard to imagine this witty kid from Iron Man 3 in the upcoming movie as Iron Man himself.
“And listen here, I don’t do this very often, I’m making you an honorary member of the Avengers”.
Not only did Domenic battle villains and save his city, he stared down his illness and won the day.
