Irrepressible Kane hits brace as Spurs crush Huddersfield
Kane is once again likely to be the focal point of Spurs’ attack after being withdrawn from the game in Cyprus after 75 minutes.
Laurent Depoitre’s strike that hit the crossbar, and Tommy Smith’s fierce shot, which produced a good save from Hugo Lloris, were Huddersfield’s only chances of note.
After that? It was all Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane was then substituted by Heung-Min Son three minutes to full time. He miskicks and the ball slips into Kane’s path.
Fellaini applied a side-footed volley from Ashley Young’s cross to double the lead before halftime, and the bushy-haired midfielder headed in Rashford’s free kick after the interval for his second goal. He is scoring goals, his energy is fantastic, the way he works without the ball.
Spurs could have scored a few more but Kane was intent on nabbing his first Premier League hat-trick of the season and instead of setting up his teammates, tried in vain to increase his tally.
There could’ve been more!
Granted, you have to back a fair way in the history books but Town have only lost two of their 17 top-flight home games against tomorrow’s opponents.
Huddersfield Town head into their final Premier League fixture before the worldwide break looking to maintain an unbeaten home record which has helped the Terriers maintain a position in the top half of the standings since their promotion to the top flight.
Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko scored the other two goals for Tottenham and, while they were thoroughly outclassed, this result should cause Huddersfield no panic.
Alli’s booking was a minor note in Spurs’ victory.
Harry Kane once again sparkled, but his efforts should not obscure the considerable contributions of the rest of his teammates at Tottenham.
On the incident, Pochettino said: “I did not see Dele Alli’s yellow card”. What kept Kane from a ideal 10 was his rather selfish play a times in the final third where he could have got an assist instead of forcing a shot. But as he pulled that left peg back, there still wasn’t much doubt that he’d score.
Sissoko’s goal was his first for the club in 44 games.
My word, that was fun!
“He is one of the best strikers in the world and because he’s still so young, he can improve”, the Argentine told reporters on Thursday. Huddersfield Town would fancy inflicting a shocking, heavy defeat to the visitors the way they did in their opening fixture at Crystal Palace.
Kane’s first half goal was a deceptively hard finish.
Kane’s second goal? Absolutely sublime. “We probably won’t be up against each other much in the game but it’s always great to play the best in the world”, the English worldwide said. And with his left foot!
“I never said he is better than Cristiano and Lionel Messi, who are at a different level”.
“Your confidence, your trust in your teammates and the way we play – it [our away form] is for many reasons it happens”.
Really hope that was a Sisso-Goal and not a SissOwnGoal. “We have to continue this after the global break”. Hopefully this form carries over into the next stretch of games, which includes the two against Madrid, plus Liverpool, West Ham, and at United.
