Is Abhishek Bachchan playing Chhota Rajan in Sanjay Gupta’s film?
Rajan was escorted from the Denpasar Police station to Bali airport in a bullet -proof vehicle.
Rajan’s deportation to India was earlier deferred by few more days as the Bali airport was closed for an indefinite period because of volcanic eruption.
Rajan was arrested by Indonesian authorities last week on the popular resort island of Bali upon arrival from Sydney, following a tip-off from Australian police, who confirmed in September he had been living there under another identity. Highly placed sources indicated that the gangster would be first brought to New Delhi; a special aircraft was sent to ferry him back.
Immediately after his arrival right here in an Indian Air Force Gulfstream-III plane from Indonesia’s Bali, Rajan, who is taken into account as a “pleasant don” as he reportedly tipped Indian safety businesses concerning the motion of Dawood and his aides, was whisked away to an undisclosed location underneath tight safety.
A special team and a special aircraft of CBI officials departed around 8 p.m. from Bali, Indonesia and they are expected to reach New Delhi on Friday around 4 a.m.
Rajan after his arrest had expressed and urged to shift him to Mumbai Jail, fearing that he has a threat from the India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.
Rajan is wanted in over 75 heinous crimes ranging from murder, extortion to smuggling and drug trafficking.
Indian fugitive Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, known in India as “Chotta Rajan”, center, is escorted by police officers. The snatching of investigations in the Sheena Bora murder case, and the CBI being called in instead, is still a festering wound for the force.
While Rajan will be initially detained at the CBI headquarters, he could, in all likelihood, be shifted to one of the many plush guesthouses that the agency has in Delhi.
Earlier, around 3 am, a team of special cell led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Sanjeev Yadav and at least 20 SWAT commandos arrived at the station. The Delhi police has six cases registered against him and is likely to question him in this regard. Now, as the CBI has taken over the cases, chances are slimmer that Rajan would be in Mumbai anytime soon. Intelligence folklore has it that Doval was planning something big, but the Mumbai police spoiled it. Former home secretary RK Singh later told a TV channel that Doval had been planning a hit on Dawood Ibrahim along with Rajan’s sharpshooters.
