Is Doris Day returning to movies for Clint Eastwood?
Doris Day has denied published reports that she will come out of retirement to appear in a film directed by Clint Eastwood.
The 91-year-old star of Calamity Jane has reportedly been in talks with Eastwood, her neighbour in Carmel Valley, California. But as Eastwood is such a big name, he’s is rumoured to be using that power to tempt a Hollywood legend Doris Day out of retirement to possibly star in a movie. The report also cites German tabloid Bild who say that Eastwood presented her with a script on one of his recent visits. She has allegedly made two demands: the film must be shot in Carmel and a cut of the profits must go to her animal welfare charity. That film is based on the heroic feats of airline pilot Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger, who executed an emergency water landing of a commercial plane in the Hudson River, saving a lot of lives in the process.
“While Doris always appreciates hearing from her fans, the rumors about her returning to the big screen are not true”, Walters told Deadline.
Other notable credits include Young at Heart with Frank Sinatra and thriller The Man Who Knew Too Much, among many others.
From 1968-1973, Day starred in “The Doris Day Show“, in which she moves her family from the city to a ranch after being widowed.
