Is Steph Curry the best shooter in the National Basketball Association?
“He just plays unselfish, handsome basketball, which is what we preach all of the time”.
Golden State point guard Stephen Curry seems intent of making his season one for the ages and topped 40 points for the third time this season with a 46-point effort in Thursday’s 129-116 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The ridiculous Golden State Warriors faced off against the sad Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night at Oracle Arena. Things went back to normal after that. This week gave us plenty of triple doubles (five from just Russell Westbrook and Rajon Rondo), great games, shocking results, plenty of game-winning buzzer beaters, and more than enough all-around entertainment. At the break the score was 54-52.
When a team starts 11-0 like the defending champion Golden State Warriors, it becomes easy to overlook flaws. Center Andrew Bogut, of Australia, chipped in a 10-point, 18-rebound double-double.
Where do those first-quarter leads come from? They were up three points with nine seconds to go.
They fell behind by 17 in the first half, scrambled to catch up by intermission, fell behind again in the third quarter, then scrapped back and forth with Jack and the Nets over a frantic final three minutes of regulation in which the lead changed hands six times.
Brook Lopez had 18 points.
After coming so close to losing, the Warriors came into overtime with a renewed focus.
The Nets still had one final fruitless gasp after Jack’s jumper from the left corner rimmed out with 1.3 seconds left in regulation.
The Warriors, and especially Curry, are off to a scalding hot start as he is averaging 33.4 points, 5.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from behind the 3-point line.
Curry even rubbed it in their faces a little bit showboating over a fallen Kyle Lowry under the basket towards the end of the game after the Raptors’ point guard’s unsuccessful attempt to keep Curry from scoring.
Draymond Green is beginning to get more attention for this performance during the Warriors’ undefeated start to the 2015-16 season and it’s nice to see.
Cleveland still leads the East with an 8-2 record and Kyrie Irving has not even made his debut yet. Their games aren’t that similar, except in the degree of control they exert over the competition. They are already thinking about June.
The Rockets got surprised by a gutsy Mavericks team that came ready to play despite missing Wesley Matthews, Chandler Parsons and Dirk Nowitzki. They’re also finding ways to win gameswhen they aren’t the better team for most of the night. Golden State finished with a 10-2 advantage and went on to win by an 8-point margin.
The Clippers needed a win against the Pistons. The first quarter has not been kind, with Toronto trailing in more than half of the 11 games. To pull it off they were going to need someone to step up and help Blake Griffin shoulder the offensive load, since they were missing Chris Paul, out with a groin injury.
MIAMI – Chris Bosh scored 25 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, including a key one on Alec Burks, and the Miami Heat held on for a 92-91 win over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
Jabari Parker embarrassed the Cavaliers big men not once but twice.
