Ishant Sharma mocks Aussie skipper Steve Smith, Twitter erupts with hilarious memes
The incident happened during the ongoing 2nd test match between India and Australia.
“We all were a bit surprised by the call”, Bangar said after the day’s play.
As is the case usually, Smith went to the non-striker Peter Handscomb to ask his opinion on whether he should review the decision.
Umpire Nigel Llong quickly realised what was going on and stepped in, ordering Smith from the field and intervening to stop a furious Kohli confronting his opposite number.
But this action of Smith incensed Indian Skipper Virat Kohli to no end and he used some of his choicest expletives to send off Smith. “He’s not only now continuing his disrespect of the Australian players and umpires, but I think he’s putting pressure on his own players now”, Healy had said to Australian radio station SEN.
He also asserted that he would have never done something like that on the cricket field. “There was a bit of talk but I think that’s because they were trying to unnerve each other (Smith and Kohli) and get under the skin”.
“From my perspective, when I was playing I remember having a brain fade when I gloved a ball and did not walk off. But if Virat is correct and if Australia are using DRS that way then it is completely unacceptable and it is not a brain fade”. But then he was looking at the dressing room to try and figure out if he needs to go for the review. “It’s as simple as that”.
India has rocketed back into contention for the Test series against Australia, but the Bangalore clash has been pock-marked by another spat between captains Virat Kohli and Steve Smith.
“It is probably the first time it has happened”.
“Honestly, if someone makes a mistake while batting, that’s a brain fade”.
“I’m proud the way the boys competed, we were outplayed the last day or so”.
Kohli said Ravindra Jadeja, who took seven wickets in the match, was “outstanding”. “We surprised ourselves by winning 75 runs eventually at the close of the match”, he added.
“We’ve been quite successful, so all the bowlers have got him out once now”, Hazlewood said. India fast bowler Ishant Sharma though picked up that move quite well in the 27th over of the Australia innings and played it back – terribly – to the Australian captain. Kohli asked dismissively. “We’ve got 1.2 billion people in India. But by far, it is the sweetest victory for us”, he added. For six days across two Test matches of this India-Australia series, there was no real controversy. India’s skipper was given a series of lectures throughout days two and four, with officials seemingly imploring him to tone things down and take control of chirpy teammates.
