ISIS threatens Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter’s CEO in new video
Since Facebook and Twitter launched a campaign on their social media networking sites to delete material advocating terrorism, many Daesh supporters have moved to other platforms, such as Telegram, where the video threatening Zuckerberg and Dorsey was discovered by Vocativ on Wednesday. The video shows a picture of Zuckerberg and Dorsey with bullet holes through it and threatens to basically end both Twitter and Facebook. “You are not in our league”, the voiceover continues.
“If you close down one account, we will take 10 in return and soon your names will be erased…”
The terrorists claimed that they control more than 10,000 Facebook accounts, 150 Facebook groups and 5,000 Twitter profiles. The video was said to be authentic by Storyful, a news agency that verifies content posted online.
The video shows hackers changing profile accounts and posting Islamic State propaganda.
The Islamist terrorist group made a 25-minute propaganda video entitled, “Flames of The Supporters”, in which they said they will retaliate if they are forced off the social network sites.
Recently Isis has been frustrated by a clampdown by the internet giants as they try to rid their sites of jihadists promoting terrorism. That gathering took place as Obama announced a new counterterrorism task force to thwart extremists and their use of social media after recent deadly attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California.
The threat comes in retaliation for efforts to suspend the IS-affiliated social media accounts, according to the report.
Twitter declined to comment, and Facebook representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
In its threat, the group claimed that Dorsey and his company started a “war” against the Islamic State, and that the “necks” of Twitter employees have “become an official target to ISIS soldiers and supporters”.
