ISIS to Israel: We’re Coming For You
Making a rare public address on Christmas Day, the leader of the self-declared Islamic State (ISIS) Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi threatened to launch an attack on Israel in the coming days and called on Saudis to overthrow their rulers.
“The Jews think we forget about it and got distracted from it”, the ISIS leader purportedly said.
Al-Baghdadi’s voice is believed to be featured on a recording released in May that urged all Muslims to migrate to territory controlled by the Islamic State group, saying there is “no excuse” for Muslims to live elsewhere.
CNN could not independently verify the man speaking is indeed Baghdadi, the much-reviled head of the group that calls itself the Islamic State.
For Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, this is the flawless time to gather more recruits since he’s slowly losing a lot of supporters through dissention or death.
Islamic State has been facing heavy pressure from the Saudi-led Islamic military coalition against terrorism in the Middle East along with a ground offensive from U.S.-backed Syrian rebels. Many tweeters aimed their disgust for Islamic State at El-Baghdadi instead, which led to more hilarity (and some annoyance for El-Baghdadi).
Despite the relentless drone strikes and barrage of bombs dropped on suspected Islamic State strongholds, the Caliphate is going strong, he says.
Baghdadi presented the conflict as a fully global war, uniting all “disbelievers” against his nation of true Muslims, saying his followers remain confident that they will eventually be granted victory, while mocking the coalitions aligned against them.
In his message, al-Baghdadi went on to threaten the Jewish people, promising to establish the Islamist Caliphate in Israel.
He also called on Saudi citizens – the biggest contributor to Isil ranks – to “rise up” against their government as he dimissed the kingdom’s newly formed Muslim coalition against the group.
The U.S.-led alliance doesn’t scare ISIS or challenge the group’s resolve, said the reclusive al-Baghdadi, who hasn’t been heard from publicly since May. Iraqi security forces are on the verge of clearing the center of Ramadi, the largest city in Anbar province, which the terror group seized in May.
