ISIS using toy cars to bomb enemy territories
Islamic State is infamous for mass misuse against minority groups in Syria and neighboring Iraq, where it runs immeasurable measures of region. “I was a rifleman… we are going to bring that together and present that to the Kurds and aid them in whatever way possible”, he said.
A massive and ongoing Peshmerga offensive against the Islamic State in territory south of Kirkuk has so far resulted in heavy casualties and the liberation of five villages. The front line between the regional Kurdish peshmerga forces and ISIS in northern Iraq has hardly budged for months.
Qadir said the Shiite militia movement known as Hashd al-Shaabi, or Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs) was also engaged in the fierce fighting with ISIS near Kirkuk on Wednesday. ISIS tends to use front-line villages for hit and run attacks, but only shores up the defenses seriously in areas they intend to keep in the long-run.
A Kurdish officer with the rank of captain was killed by an improvised explosive device, a source in the Kirkuk morgue said.
Kurdistan has had a semi-autonomous government since the end of the 1991 Persian Gulf War and its Peshmerga forces have been combating Daesh terrorists since the terror group launched its deadly campaign in June 2014.
In Ramadi, capital of the key battleground province of Anbar, Iraqi forces continue to try and isolate the city, which fell into IS hands in May.
“Our plan has been successfully completed and we have control of most of the villages we were planning to take”, Mustafa Sayid Qadir, minister of Peshmerga, told Rudaw Wednesday.
