Israel arrests 24 Hamas activists in West Bank
In the video, broadcast by the Arabic-language Palestine al-Yawm satellite television network, the Israeli officers can be seen yelling, cursing at and verbally abusing 13-year-old Ahmad Manasra, whom they accuse of carrying out a stabbing attack on an illegal settler near Pisgat Ze’ev settlement in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Two Palestinian boys, aged 11 and 14, stabbed and wounded an Israeli guard on a train who responded by firing and wounding one of them Tuesday. The guard shot one assailant and passengers subdued the second one.
Today, Israeli security forces shot and killed a Palestinian woman at a West Bank checkpoint after she allegedly pulled a knife in an attempt to stab guards.
In the latest wave of violence, Palestinian attacks on Israelis have largely been carried out by individuals with no ties to militant groups. On Tuesday, 13-year-old Ahmed Manasra went on trial before a Jerusalem court over a stabbing last month that fueled a high-profile media war.
The Palestinian arrived at the Kiosk check point near Bethlehem in the West Bank and caused border guards to look at him with suspicion, a police spokesperson said.
On Monday evening a video appeared on Palestinian websites showing what appeared to be him being questioned by Israeli security officers.
Over 80 Palestinians have been killed in the recent escalation of violence since the start of October.
Shortly afterward, forces killed a 37-year-old Palestinian man outside the Old City as he allegedly chased guards while wielding a knife, police said.
The security camera footage, released by Israeli authorities in the wake of the attack, purported to show the cousins – knives in hand – following the Israeli victims.
Rights groups have alleged that Israeli troops have used excessive force against Palestinians, in a few cases shooting and killing suspected attackers who the groups say could have been simply arrested.
The new leaked clip shows Ahmed in tears as his interrogator shouts and shakes his fist at him.
“Differences cannot be resolved with rifles and fighting”, the minister said, noting that her country can play a positive role through its good relations with many Arab countries to help them overcome conflicts which threaten their unity and sovereignty”.
