Israel Court convicts two minors of murder of Palestinian
In Monday’s ruling, two Jewish Israelis who were minors when they were charged were convicted by the court of the July 2, 2014 abduction and murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, 16. Their names weren’t let go under Israeli law.
Dawood said that two weeks earlier he paid the Jerusalem municipality a fine of 25,000 shekels ($6,400) for the fifth floor, but he said that the court was unconcerned by the fact that demolishing the third and fourth floors inevitably meant demolishing the fifth.
Abu Khdeir’s father Hussein denounced the verdict.
Near the Jewish settlement of Einav, also in the West Bank, a Palestinian woman was shot dead by an Israeli officer whom she allegedly attempted to stab, the army said.
The court deferred his decision after his lawyers made a late plea for him to undergo psychological evaluation.
The judge found that Ben David drove the vehicle while the two youths beat Abu Khdeir unconscious in the back seat. One of the youths helped douse Mohammad Abu Khdair with petrol while he was still alive, before Ben David lit a match and set him on fire, they added. The prosecution, however, argues that Ben David is responsible for his acts and fit to stand trial.
Britain, Belgium and Denmark already affix labels to Israeli goods, differentiating between those from Israel proper and those, particularly fruit and vegetables, that come from the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank. It is still unclear if the service will be granted by Israel in the Strip as well, although minister Musa claims the agreement “concerns all of Palestine, Gaza included”.
Many of the Palestinians killed have been alleged attackers, while others have been shot dead by Israeli security forces during clashes.
Normal legal procedures dictate that such conduct would be allowed since Ben David hadn’t been convicted yet, however the court would examine the opinion separately later in December, according to The Jerusalem Post. The youthful defendants asserted that Ben David gave them “pills and energy drinks”.
“This is an evidence of the occupation’s racism and its sponsorship of the settlers’ crimes against the Palestinian people”, the Islamic militant group said in a statement.
The prosecution asked the judges to reject the evaluation and speedily issue Ben David’s verdict, noting copious evidence showing Ben David was alert, was aware of his surroundings, and had answered questions competently and accurately after his arrest.
A court in Jerusalem has convicted two Israeli minors in the killing of a 16-year-old Palestinian boy last year.
Last July, Israeli authorities quickly labeled Abu Khdeir’s brutal death as a revenge attack. Prosecutors had presented signs they said revealed he was.
The incident took place at the Damascus Gate, a main entry point for Palestinians to East Jerusalem’s Old City.
Israel says the violence stems from Palestinian incitement and incendiary videos on social media.
