Israel risks ‘crisis with the Arab and Islamic world’

More than 300 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in the ongoing tensions since the beginning of October 2015.

An earlier report on Israel’s Channel 2 TV station had said that Israel was ready to make changes to its drastic security measures at the gates of the compound leading to Al Aqsa mosque and made a decision to remove x-ray detectors and replace them with handheld metal detectors. The U.S. has expressed concern about the frictions, and called on Israel and Jordan to find a solution.
The man was involved in a clash in the town of el-Eizariyah near Jerusalem, the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported.
Friday prayers at al-Aqsa were cancelled after two Israeli policemen were killed by Palestinian assailants in the Old city.
Palestinians have been refusing to enter the compound all week in protest at the metal detectors.
The bishop claimed that thousands of Muslims pray at the site during Ramadan and “everything goes smoothly”.
“We are managing this in a level-headed, determined and responsible way”, Netanyahu said in televised remarks before his weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday.
World leaders are speaking out against Friday’s violent crackdown on protesters by Israeli security forces.
Police Superintendent and spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Twitter, “Names of three Israelis murdered in Friday night attack by Palestinian terrorist, Yosef Solomon age 70, Chaya Solomon age 46, Elad Solomon age 36”.
