The possibility that Allan might die of his fast had drawn Islamic Jihad threats to attack Israel, which in turn deployed Iron Dome rocket interceptors outside Gaza as a precaution.

Israel bombed neighboring Syria on Thursday evening in retaliation for four rockets from Syria that hit Israeli territory earlier in the day, according to reports.
Israel says some of the attacks have been accidental spillover from the Syrian conflict while others have been intentionally aimed at Israeli civilians and soldiers.
The IDF also said that Islamic Jihad fired the rockets “with Iranian funding and direction”.
Syrian troops were killed in the strikes, according to the Observatory.
The army placed Iron Dome anti-missile batteries around the southern cities of Ashdod and Beersheba on Thursday morning, amid fears of a backlash over the health of Allaan.
The rockets landed in the northern Galilee and Golan Heights, the Israeli military said in a statement.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon visited northern Israel on Tuesday to meet military officials.
“We are ready for any eventuality”.
Israel has responded occasionally to attacks from Syria.
