Israeli army kills 4 Palestinians in occupied West Bank
In November, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to expedite house demolitions in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, which he said were “one of the most efficient tools” in discouraging Palestinian attacks.
Two Palestinians tried to stab Israeli soldiers at a West Bank checkpoint early Saturday before they were shot dead by troops at the scene, the Israeli military said.
Israel’s defense ministry in late December added a compound in the West Bank to the jurisdiction of the Gush Etzion regional council, near Jerusalem. Others have been killed in clashes with Israeli forces.
The resolution accused Israel of placing “restrictions on the movement of faculty, staff and visitors in the West Bank impede the regular functioning of instruction and university activities at Palestinian institutions of higher learning”, and “routinely refuses to allow students from Gaza to travel in order to pursue higher education overseas, and even at West Bank universities”. “The Palestinian Authority catches them and kills them”.
The material recorded by the right-wing group Ad Kan was given to Uvda, which is broadcast on the left-wing Israeli television network Channel 2.
In Bil’in village, Israeli soldiers attacked with dozens of gas bombs and rubber-coated steel bullet the weekly nonviolent protest against the Apartheid Wall and the illegal settlements, causing dozens of injuries.
“I have never seen someone demolishing like this, may God curse them”.
AHA members opposed to the resolution had argued that, in calling on the group “to monitor” Israeli action regarding Palestinian educational institutions, it contravened the organization’s constitution and mission.
Israelis have escalated targeting of Palestinians, accusing them of carrying out attacks against Israeli forces and settlers.
The bloodshed has raised fear of wider escalation a decade after the last Palestinian uprising, or intifada, subsided. Some 25 Israelis have also been killed.
