Israeli Forces Accused of Attacking Journalists, Medics
Separately, on Saturday, Israeli occupation forces shot dead a Palestinian youth in the northern occupied West Bank. When the Palestinian made a move in his direction, the officer opened fire “to neutralize the danger”.
Earlier Friday, one Palestinian was killed and another wounded during a knife attack on Israeli police near Hebron.
In all, 11 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, mostly stabbings, and 67 Palestinians died by Israeli fire over the past six weeks.
On Friday evening, Israel also returned the remains of 22-year-old Muataz Atallah Qassem from Eizariya in East Jerusalem, who was shot dead by an IDF soldier after he stabbed and critically wounded a 20-year-old female soldier in the West Bank last week.
Palestinian leaders claim that Israel is trying to change the status quo at the site, though all non-Muslim religious activity remains forbidden and non-Muslim visiting hours remain restricted. Israel is not a member and says the court does not have jurisdiction to hear the Palestinian complaint.

The Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) has become the lightning rod for the surge of recent confrontations.
In recent days the city has been rocked by protests over Israel’s policy of withholding the bodies of attackers as part of measures to dissuade attacks on Jews.
“They called on the Palestinian to halt, but when he failed to respond to their calls they shot him”.
“These aren’t new constructions but rather homes built in settlements recognised by Israel in areas that until now didn’t have any urban planning”, said Hagit Ofran, a spokeswoman for Israeli settlement watchdog Peace Now.
One of the Palestinians who killed his father had previously made his intentions clear on Facebook and his posts were widely reposted on social media afterward, Avni said.
On Wednesday, One Palestinian youth was killed by Israeli gunfire while at least 19 others were injured as clashes continue all over the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza.
Numerous attackers who have targeted Israeli forces come from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, a stronghold of the Islamist movement Hamas.
In the first week of October the Palestinian government reported a record number of 117 settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank, reflecting a sharp increase of violence carried out by Jewish extremists against Palestinians concurrent to the wave of attacks in Jerusalem.
Abbas has also since called on Bensouda to probe the August firebombing of a Palestinian home blamed on Jewish extremists, in which a toddler and his father died.
The Israeli army referred request for comment to the foreign affairs ministry, which did not reply to the accusations of unjustified killings, only saying that this was “yet another instance in which Amnesty demonstrates a lack of interest in the Israeli victims of Palestinian terror”.
