Israeli forces ‘kill two Palestinians’ during refugee camp raid
In the latest violence, Israeli forces on Wednesday shot and killed two Palestinians who had attacked Israeli security forces during an arrest raid in a West Bank refugee camp, according to police.
Palestinians are angry at growing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and their attacks on Palestinian properties, saying Israel seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
On Monday, tens of thousands of Palestinians took to the streets to march in celebration of Hamas’ 28th anniversary, chanting slogans of support and waving their hands in the air with green-washed-banners and Palestinian flags.
Khalil Shikaki of the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research conducted the survey, with a sample size of 1,270 and a 3% margin of error.
There are numerous videos showing how terrorists charging at their intended victims knives or other deadly weapons have been killed in self defense.
The group says Israeli troops fired at some Palestinian assailants even after they were wounded and no longer posed a threat. Since mid-Sept., Palestinians have killed 19 Israelis in stabbing, shooting & vehicular assaults.
The attacker, identified as 21-year-old Abdel Muhsan Hasuna of East Jerusalem, was shot dead by a nearby security guard and a civilian who were both armed, a police spokeswoman said.
On Tuesday, the United Nations human rights office voiced deep concern over an “unacceptable” wave of Palestinians attacking Israelis, but also criticised Israeli authorities’ reported “excessive use of force” in response to the attacks.
The attack, by Israeli ultra-nationalists, put Israel under growing global pressure to resolve the case. The poll found that 65 percent of Palestinians believe Abbas should resign.
A similar figure supported his resignation in a poll released three months ago.
Barkat praised the “immediate alertness” of bystanders who averted “a grave tragedy”.
