Israeli forces shoot dead Palestinian after attempted attack
The Israeli prime minister said during a special event for the foreign press in Jerusalem that people are “protecting themselves from attackers who wish to kill them with knives”, calling Wallstrom’s call for an inquiry into the killings “absurd”.
Israel was further incensed at an European Union decision to specifically label exported items coming from Israeli settlements in the Palestinian Occupied Territories. “Does the Swedish foreign minister suggest that there be examinations of what happened there in Paris”, he asked.
Israel’s deputy foreign minister earlier said Israel would continue a policy of barring the Swedish foreign minister from visiting the country, accusing Ms Wallstrom of fostering terrorism.
“I think what the Swedish foreign minister said is outrageous, I think it’s immoral, it’s unjust and it’s just wrong”, he said.
Israeli forces Thursday morning shot dead a Palestinian young man at Beit ‘Einun junction, northeast of Hebron in the southern West Bank, said the Palestinian Health Ministry.
During a speech on Tuesday, Wallstrom (pictured below) called for a probe into the Israeli regime’s killing of a large number of Palestinians on a daily basis, saying, “It is vital that there are thorough, credible investigations into these deaths in order to clarify and bring about possible accountability”.
Mr Hotovely said: “Ms Wallstrom has consistently demonstrated bias against Israel”.
Palestinians and Israeli human rights groups charge excessive force was used in many of these instances, after the attackers no longer posed a threat to Israelis’ lives. They say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound. In response, Israel recalled its ambassador, and then-Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned that the Middle East is more complicated than a piece of furniture from Ikea, which was founded in Sweden.

The junction has been a site where at least four Palestinians were killed during this month. Exactly what that will mean in practice isnt clear.
“Wallstrom’s comments point to her misunderstanding of what is happening in our region, and she is likely unaware of the hard situation Israeli citizens are in, with constant danger of murderous terror attacks”, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
