The slain Palestinian has been identified as Mohammad Ziad Abu Khalaf, 20, from Kafr Aqab Palestinian neighborhood, in occupied Jerusalem.
The remark contrasts with the many Republicans – and some Democrats – who often pledge unequivocal support for Israel.
At least eight separate attacks were reported over a 12-hour period on Friday alone, Ha’aretz reports.
The committee said in a statement that their decision contradicts an earlier ruling by the Israeli Supreme Court allowing family visits to the 33-year-old journalist, who is now in critical condition.

Local sources said clashes took place in the town after several Israeli military vehicles invaded it, and fired live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades.
Israel has faced criticism by the Palestinians and others for what they say is sometimes an excessive use of force amid the five month-long wave of violence.
Israeli officials said the French initiative is “an erroneous approach” that gives Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas an excuse not to negotiate directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
