Israeli military: Palestinian stabs soldier, shot dead
Since mid-September, Palestinian attackers have killed 21 Israelis, mostly in stabbings, shootings and car-ramming attacks.
Ishak Badran and Ahmed Quneibi, both from Kafr Aqeb in east Jerusalem, were buried at noon, while the body of Mohammad Said was laid to rest in a separate ceremony nearby.
Some 25 Israelis have also died since October.
The current tensions have started since October first, due to reptitive Israeli settler attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest place in Islam, and Israeli restrictions over Palestinian entrance, in addition to the Duma arson attack which killed a baby and his parents.
Israel came under heavy pressure to try those responsible, with rights groups questioning the delay in the case and contrasting it to the swift reaction often following Palestinian attacks. Critics say the tactic amounts to collective punishment.
At least 145 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of the wave of violence.
A Palestinian man was shot dead after he reportedly stabbed an Israeli soldier south of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, Israel’s army said.
An Israeli reserve duty soldier was wounded and his Palestinian assailant was shot and killed in a stabbing attack in the West Bank. Most of the others have been killed in clashes with security forces.
Police announced Tuesday afternoon that they had arrested the man who sparked a manhunt Tuesday morning in the coastal Israeli town of Herzliya. the resident of East Jerusalem was on the run after breaking through a checkpoint between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
