Israeli police: Gunman opens fire, kills 2 at Tel Aviv bar
Police detained on a suspect on Reines St., near the site of the shooting, after the shooter fled the scene of the attack. “Tel Aviv has been a target in the past, and here it is rearing its ugly head again”. They all agreed that he was extremely calm. He stated authorities have been looking for the suspect in central Tel Aviv.
The casualties were taken to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. Shots were fired inside a bar at Dizengoff 122, according to ToI.
From the initial investigation of the incident, it is not possible to determine if this is a criminal or terror attack, Samri told CNN. The shooting happened outside the Simta pub, according to an address provided by police.
Tel Aviv’s Mayor, Ron Huldai asked residents to stay indoors following the attack.
PEOPLE were enjoying a New Year’s lunch but little did they know the deadly gunman was waiting in a nearby shop before starting his killing spree.
Conflicting reports have come in from eye witnesses, who saw the young man clad in black and masked, spraying the street and tables outside a cafe with automatic fire.
Paramedic Shani Mizrachi told the website: “Some of the wounded were inside the pub and others lying in the street”.
“There was a huge crown [sic] when I got to the scene”. Some of the injured were in the pub and some were lying in the road. It was not immediately clear who was responsible. He was in fully conscious.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Five others were wounded – three in moderate condition and two with light injuries. Palestinians have killed 19 Israelis and an American since the start of October, mostly in spontaneous stabbings or car-ramming attacks.
