Ivanka Trump on Father’s Presidential Run: It’s ‘Complicated’
But this isn’t the first time the question of The Donald’s presidential run appears to have caused a few father-daughter tension, and it isn’t fully clear to what extent Ivanka Trump, a successful businesswoman in her own right, supports a campaign that her father has punctuated with controversial and largely offensive remarks about women, immigrants and other presidential candidates.
At the summit, according to Politico, she was asked whether she was happy he was running.
Ivanka Trump may have lived her life in the spotlight thanks to her dad’s success as a businessman and tenure as host of The Celebrity Apprentice, but now she’s under even more pressure. “He’s pushed me, he’s corrected me, he’s disciplined me”, she said.
Asked whether she offered commentary on her father’s bombastic comments, she continued to say that, “truthfully, it didn’t interest me that much”.
Ivanka has been mostly silent during her father’s campaign, but in the upcoming weeks she will have a larger role, along with his wife Melania, reported the New York Daily News.
‘He was not a politician, he is not a politician, but he’s really changing the dialogue and he’s really disrupting the process in a very positive way, ‘ Trump added.
While Trump has called a few women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals” in the past, his daughter said she thought he would be a great president for women. As a daughter, it’s obviously more complicated.
If there is one thing everyone knows about Donald Trump, it is that the billionaire can talk. “I think everybody can appreciate the fact that he’s creating dialogue”, Trump, 33, said.
