J.J. Abrams regrets not directing Star Wars: Episode VIII
“Star Wars” will be joined at the box office this weekend by Jennifer Lawrence’s “Joy”, Will Smith’s “Concussion”, and “Daddy’s Home”, a comedy featuring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. I present to you the The Star Wars Holiday Special. According Grunberg, Abrams has never reacted to script as strongly as he did for Episode 8. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it'”.
Abrams’ lifelong friend Greg Grunberg told The Washington Post that he has never heard the director express regret in such great capacity.
“We definitely wanted it to be open-ended and we didn’t want to dictate where it was going”, said co-writer Lawrence Kasdan with regards to the relatively ambiguous nature of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The second “Force Awakens” trailer debuted the passing of Luke Skywalker’s famous lightsaber from one orange alien hand (now revealed to be Maz Kanata, the entirely computer-generated character played by Lupita Nyong’o) to the human hand of character Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher). Abrams will stay on as an executive producer for the upcoming film.
One thing Star Wars fans all seem to agree on after watching The Force Awakens is what a great job JJ Abrams did.
Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford will rake in more than £23 million for his role in the new Star Wars blockbuster, the Mail on Sunday reports. It looks like Episode VIII will be even better than The Force Awakens, but we’ll have to wait until May 26, 2017 to find out. And, it’s not like Abrams is leaving the Star Wars universe altogether, so he can’t be too upset about not being the director.
