J.T. Realmuto, six pitchers lead Marlins over Phillies

Wednesday was unkind with the Phillies dropping a 4-3, eleven inning decision for their 9th defeat in eleven contests.

But depth is a necessity over a 162-game season, as evidenced by this year, in which 14 pitchers started for the Phillies.

It was Harang’s first win since July 30 against Atlanta, a span of eight starts.

Alec Asher (0-5) pitched seven innings allowing one run and three hits for the Phillies. “There’s nothing I can do about those past games but I can take the two ahead of me [including Thursday’s] and finish strong”.

The Marlins managed only one run and three hits off Asher in seven innings, but it was enough to eke out a 1-0 victory at Marlins Park and clinch their sixth series win in the past seven. “It’s unfortunate. I didn’t really give the guys a chance to kind of get something going offensively”.

“Maybe the at-bat of the night outside of Dee’s victor was Rojas in a (nine) pitch at-bat and ended up with a base hit”, Jennings said. “They got a young aggressive team that can potentially do a lot of damage”.

Justin Bour hit his 19th home run for the Marlins, who snapped a four-game losing streak. I’m going to try and do my best. He has homered four times in his last eight games.

The Phillies were 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Cosart allowed four hits and two walks. Galvis’ two-run single in the second extended the lead to 3-0.

Unfortunately, by this point, the Phillies had not bothered to score for him either, so J.T. Realmuto’s RBI triple that scored Derek Dietrich (only the third hit Asher allowed) was the deathblow, making it 1-0.

Asche’s home run down the right-field line gave the Phillies a 6-2 lead in the eighth inning. “Tonight he got the head out on that one ball and hit the two-run homer”.

Cosart earned his first victory in three starts since spending two months on the disabled list with vertigo-related symptoms.
